About the unit
The Local Planning Unit North (LplE Norr) is part of the Norrbotten Regiment and serves as the Swedish Armed Forces' procurement competence towards the Fortifications Agency for the Armed Forces' needs for land and facilities.

LplE Norr is functionally led by the Defence Staff at the Headquarters and works with maintenance, procurement, and decommissioning of properties. LplE Norr is now seeking a new Unit Manager based in Boden.

Currently, LplE Norr has a deputy manager who also leads a small group of unit-wide support, in addition to which the unit consists of three production departments divided by geographical responsibilities in the northern region.

Main Responsibilities

As the Unit Manager for LplE Norr, you will have overall responsibility for planning, implementation, and development of the unit's operations, which includes the subprocesses Procurement, Maintenance, Decommissioning, and Garrison Planning. Organizationally, you report to the commander of the Norrbotten Regiment in Boden. In your role, tasks are led and directed centrally from the Defence Staff's Infrastructure Department in Stockholm, and C LplE is also part of the central management group.

LplE Norr supports the Armed Forces' operations in the four northernmost counties. The unit currently has 33 employees distributed across offices in Boden, Luleå, Umeå, and Sollefteå. In the role of unit manager, you will have personnel responsibility for your deputy manager and other department heads. LplE is on an exciting growth journey, and the operations are geographically spread, which means that business trips are common.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills with documented experience.
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing.
  • Academic education in construction & civil engineering or other equivalent military or civilian education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Driver's license (B).

The work involves many contact points and requires you to have good collaboration skills and the ability to build good relationships. You communicate clearly and concisely and are structured in your work approach. It is important that you can take initiative and drive the operations forward through the organization's established processes to achieve high-quality results. Since the infrastructural processes are complex and involve significant financial values, it is crucial that you have the ability to balance the big picture with details and good judgment. Furthermore, a well-balanced combination of analytical ability and decision-making power is required. You are a responsive person who can motivate and inspire your employees towards set goals. You are a good role model both as a person and a leader. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

MERITORIOUS

  • Experience in the construction, civil engineering, and property sector.
  • Good ability to manage and operate in digital support systems, e.g., MS Office, Outlook, etc.

Employment type: permanent, the Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the authority.

I 19 is one of Sweden's largest regiments with operations in Boden, Kiruna, Tåme, and Grubbnäsudden/Lomben. The main location and management for the regiment is in Boden.

The regiment's most important task is to build combat units, and in the coming years, I 19 will gradually develop the new Norrbotten Brigade. By 2028, the regiment should be able to train, store, and mobilize the entire brigade, including the associated functional units: command, field operations, air defense, and logistics. The brigade should be able to engage in combat in all environments but be specialized for combat in the subarctic environment of the Nordic region.

The regiment also houses the Armed Forces' winter unit, which is tasked with coordinating and supporting the development of the Armed Forces' winter capabilities.

The conscription training is conducted at the Norrbotten Armored Battalion, which is responsible for training and maintaining units for the Norrbotten Brigade. The regiment also consists of the regimental staff, Defence Health, Garrison Support Unit, Logistics Unit, and Local Planning Unit.
